The Chatham Cup was presented to the New Zealand Football Association by the Royal Navy in December 1922. It was an acknowledgment of the hospitality and friendship shown the crew of the cruiser H.M.S. Chatham, during her stay in New Zealand waters.
The Rothman Cup. A tobacco company, Rothman's of Pall Mall, donated a trophy for the first inter-club series featuring the local champions from Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury and Otago. This was the first known national club championship and its winner could be considered the top club side in New Zealand. Northern were the first winners of the Trophy in 1962.
